Upper Mustang Trek, spectacular trekking experience in the remote trans-Himalayan mountain region of Nepal and trek to hidden paradise of old Buddhist kingdom of Mustang also called Lo that is closely tied to Tibet in culture, language and geography. The scenic view of the naturally awesome landscape, unique and antique cultural heritages sites, dazzling Himalayan peaks and finally exploring the mystery of the hidden kingdom is incredible and exciting part. Flying through the deepest gorge in the world is an adventure in itself. Upper Mustang Trekking Itinerary

You will be greeted by our company representative at the Tribhuwan International Airport, and will be dropped into our hotel. After you check into our hotel, you will have meeting with team members and team guide to discuss about the trip plan and necessary accessories. In the evening we will have welcome dinner with typical Nepali cultural program. Overnight in Kathmandu

After breakfast, we will be visiting some UNESCO enlisted world heritage sites in Kathmandu; Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath stupa and Bouddhanath stupa. Biggest Hindu temple of Nepal, Pashupati Nath, predates to Lichhavi period, Boudha Nath, and Swayambhu Nath, shrines of Lord Buddha, uniquely built in Shikhara style and finally Kathmandu Durbar Square, testimonial of middle age architecture. Overnight in Kathmandu

We will be having 6-7 hours drive to Pokhara, the queen of the Nepal and the Lake City owing to the large number of lakes in the city awards us with magnificent views of the Himalayas including Dhaulagiri (8,167m/26,794ft), Manaslu (8,156m/26,759ft), Machhapuchhre (6,993m/22,943ft), the five peaks of Annapurna and others. Boating in the Fewa Lake and strolling in the city’s quaint streets will certainly amuse you. We then check-in to our hotel. Overnight in Pokhara

An early morning flight will take us to Jomsom, a beautiful valley famous for its apples, strong winds and the landscape. Then we begin our trek and pass through Eaklibatti village before reaching Kagbeni, beautiful village with flat-roofed houses and ruins of an old fortress located at the bank of two rivers. Night stay in Kagbeni.

Kagbeni to Chele (3,050m/10,004ft): 5-6 hours
After getting our permit checked, we begin our trek alongside the Kali Gandaki River against sand amidst strong winds before ascending on a hill to reach the Tangbe Village rich in its narrow alleyways, white-washed houses, barley and buckwheat fields, and apple orchards. Then we continue our trek and cross a river on our way before reaching Chele Village. Overnight in Chele.

Trek goes on exciting as day passes. Today we will be crossing two passes, Taklam La pass (3,624m) and Dajori La pass (3,735) from the scenic views of Tilicho, Yakawa Kang and Damodar Danda is really incredible. Ramchung Cave on the way is also commanding your attention. We descend further on a step trail to reach Syanboche via Samar Village. Overnight in Syanboche

After early breakfast, we ascend up on a trail to the Yamda La pass at 3,850m and continue our trek to reach Nyi Pass at 4,010m from where we descend down to Ghami, one of the biggest beautiful villages in the Lo region entirely surrounded with fields. Overnight in Ghami.

Rough and often slippery trail will take us to a suspension bridge over the Ghami Khola. After crossing the bridge, the beautiful pathway with mani walls alongside will lead us to Tsarang La Pass at 3870m famous for the magnificent view on the horizon. Then we descend down to Tsarang village located at top of the Charang Chu canyon with a huge fortress and a red gompa. Overnight in Tsarang.

Descending through a canyon and crossing a river, we start our uphill trek to Lo La pass (3950m) which will definitely awards us with the magnificent views of the Himalayas including Nilgiri, Tilicho and Annapurna I, Bhrikuti Peak as well as Damodar Kunda. Overnight in Lo-Manthang and moreover the scenic view of the beautifully walled Lo Manthang village.

After enough rest, we go for a short walk to visit three major gompas of the area namely Jhampa, Thupchen and Chhoeda that represents the ancient lifestyle and culture of the region.
Day 11: Lo-Mangthang to Drakmar (3810 m/12,500ft): 6-7 hours
We will take a different route while returning from Lo-Manthang so that new places can be explored during our return trip. Trail passes through Gyakar village which houses a century old Ghar Gompa. We explore the Gompa and admire its beautiful rock paintings. Then we continue our trek to Drakmar for an overnight stay.

Today our trail is passing against the strong wind and to avoid it, we start our trek early in the morning. Strong winds against your face can be a new experience for you. We descend along the trail through a dry plateau and fields before reaching Ghiling which is mostly dry, but still the views of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri mountains is stunning and photographic moment.

After having breakfast, we continue our previous trail to trek back to Chhuksang. The splendid view of the Himalayas and small villages as we pass en route is honestly phenomenal. Overnight in Chhuksang.

On the last day of our trail, we continue trekking down to the end of our Mustang to join the trails of the Annapurna circuit and then continuing along the pathway, we stop for lunch at Kagbeni. After lunch, we continue our trek to Jomsom for an overnight stay.

An early morning flight will take you to Pokhara and we know you will find the flight truly adventurous as the airplane passes through a gorge between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains making the flight itself an amazing experience. After arriving in Pokhara, we check into the hotel and relax our leisure time.

After having breakfast, we will be ready for a drive to Kathmandu. A 7-8 hours drive will really delight you with a journey along river banks and wonderful views of terraced hills and the rural Nepalese lifestyle. We will have a farewell dinner in the evening to celebrate the successful completion of our journey. Overnight in Kathmandu
